HMS Alert is one of the models in the museum only partially enclosed so the construction of wooden ships of the period is visible.

The ship was launched in 1793.  The ship was captured by the French frigate Unite off Ireland.

The Model

1/8” scale    Case:  H 15”   L 42 ½”   W 12 ½”

Plank and exposed frame.  Builder is unknown.  The model is from the Quester Maritime Collecton, Stonington, Connecticut.
