A lively and dynamic drawing was created for the donor after discussion in which the artist, Sergio Aragoñes claimed that Thomas Hoyne did not paint in his Studio as was commonly thought. Instead Aragones portrays Hoyne en plein air or in “open-air”, aboard a ship in turbulent seas. It appears that the artist was depicting the painting Rivals II which can be seen above.

The cartoonist  and writer , Aragoñes is best known for his contributions to Mad Magazine and creator of Alfred E Neuman and the comic book Groo The Wanderer. Among his peers and fans  Aragones a member of CIMM Ship Model Guild is widely regarded as world’s fastest cartoonist. The Comics Journal has described Aragoeñs as one of the most prolific and brilliant of his generation.
